Professional Qualifications and Areas of Specialism
I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist who works with children, young people and families. I trained at the The Tavistock Centre in London. I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I have an interest and significant experience in working with children and young people with neurodiversity - particularly Autism and ADHD, as well as other neurodevelopmental disorders.
I also work with a broad range of emotional and behaviour difficulties such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties with peers and family, aggressive behaviour, tantrums, bereavement and loss. I have experience of working with complex mental health difficulties such as eating disorders and body image and appearance anxiety, self-harm, substance abuse and trauma.
I have over 15 years’ experience of working in education and healthcare. I trained and worked in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in London. Prior to that I was a teacher and worked in both state and private education settings, so I have experience of working in a range of settings that provide care and support to children, young people and families.
Currently, I work in private practice and teach and supervise on graduate level courses for charity and government organisations.
I am a member of ACP, BPC, TSP and BACP.
My personal approach is flexible and led by the individual needs of the child, young person or family. I use a range of resources and techniques that are informed by psychoanalytic understanding of the mind. I incorporate psycho-education and mindfulness, and strategy-based and non-directive approaches.
